Cryotheraphy
At Faciem Dermatology we use Liquid Nitrogen ( Cryotherapy) through a medical canister device not through a cheap device purchased through a pharmacy. This ensures that the quality of the treatment is effective and precise.
We use Liquid Nitrogen for two purposes, one for the treatment of Medical Dermatological conditions and two for the use of light application of liquid nitrogen against the face to help to improve skin texture and tighten pores called
Cryotherapy has been used for many years for the treatment of many skin conditions, please click on the link

Liquid nitrogen is also now being used in Cosmetic Dermatology to improve skin texture and resurface the skin and tighten pores.

When Liquid Nitrogen is applied to the skin use a canister with a nozzle tip directly onto an unwanted skin lesion it produces a freeze ball effect and kills the root of the skin problem. The area usually gets a cold burn which takes 3-7 days to heal.
Once the treatment is done it then takes time for the skin to heal and for the skin problem to heal. Many skin lesions require more than one treatment because repeated exposure to Liquid Nitrogen is necessary to kill the wart virus or clear certain damaged cells.
The area will be a little sore and may become red. Rarely do you get serious infections or a blister. In skin of colour (asian/afro-carribean skin) we have to be careful to not damage the pigment cells which may lead the area to become lighter or darker. So in these cases other options may be discussed or we may do a test treatment patch first. After treatment you will get full aftercare and detailed after care instructions.
